Caramelised pear & oscypek cheese toasties
Bring a taste of the Polish Tatra mountains to your table with this gourmet toast. Caramelised pears, smoky oscypek cheese, and a hint of thyme create a symphony of sweet and savoury on your plate.
Preparation
Step 1
4 Slices of wheat bread – 1 tbsp olive oil – 160 g oscypek sheep's cheese
Drizzle the olive oil over the bread, place on a baking tray and toast in a preheated oven at 200 °C for 3 minutes.
Cut the oscypek cheese into slices. Place it on the toast and briefly return to the oven until the cheese melts.
Step 2
2 pears – 1 tbsp butter – 1 tbsp honey – 20 g walnuts – 1 tbsp Kikkoman Naturally Brewed Less Salt Soy Sauce – 1 sprig of thyme
Cut the pears into eighths and remove the seeds. Heat the butter in a pan, add the honey, Kikkoman Less Salt Soy Sauce and heat together. After a short time, add the pears and fry until soft. Finally, add the chopped walnuts and thyme leaves and fry for another minute.
Step 3
2 tsp cranberry jam
Arrange the pear and walnut mixture on the toast with the oscypek cheese, drizzle over the remaining sauce from the frying pan, spoon half a teaspoon of cranberry jam on top and serve while still warm.
Tip:
After serving, you can drizzle a little honey over the dish and sprinkle with fresh thyme. If you can't find oscypek sheep's cheese, you can use Manchego or any other smoked cheese instead.
