"Japas" = Japanese tapas
If you want to surprise your dinner guests with something completely different, serve japas. These Japanese tapas are either original Japanese foods or inspired by traditional Japanese cuisine. Japan has been celebrating the art of cooking small and stylishly presented dishes for hundreds of years. Traditional Japanese cuisine (washoku) is exceptionally versatile and has far more to offer than sushi. That’s one of the reasons why it was given UNESCO world cultural heritage status in 2013.
Small & scrumptious snacks
Japas are fantastic-tasting bite-sized delicacies because they are made from best-quality tuna, asparagus, duck breast and other good ingredients. They're also surprising, because they re-interpret familiar foods into new creations such as mussels in wine and soy sauce, Japanese cabbage fritters with belly of pork or mini prawn pancakes. Japas are perfect for experimental cooks because they can be grilled, fried or baked.
Seasoned with soy sauce
Fermented foods like soy sauce are an essential item in any Japanese kitchen because they have a positive effect on the digestive system. Naturally brewed soy sauce enriches all kinds of dishes with its umami effect. The result is so savoury that you can reduce salt to the minimum without affecting taste satisfaction. We hope our japas recipes will inspire you to try them out and perhaps even create your own japas.
