Apple tart with filled puff pastry
Slowly heat up the sugar in an oven-proof pan (approx. 24 cm diameter). As soon as lumps start to form, stir and let the sugar caramelise, then add the Sweet Soy Sauce. Peel the apples, then halve them and core them. Cut the apple halves into approx. 2 cm slices and place them on the caramel in the pan. Drizzle on the orange juice and sprinkle with a little cinnamon and vanilla sugar.
Roll out the puff pastry and cut out two pan-sized bases. Sprinkle poppy seeds, a little cinnamon and vanilla sugar on one base and place the second base on top. Carefully place the filled pastry on top of the apples, prick in several places with a fork and bake in a pre-heated oven for around 30 minutes at 200°C. Leave the tart to cool for 20 minutes and then turn it out. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped dairy cream sweetened with vanilla sugar.
Although it looks like a conventional apple tart, it has an amazing poppy seed, raisin and cinnamon filling!
