Our designer bottle has cult status

"Design is a source of life enhancement". That is the motto of the Japanese industrial designer, Kenji Ekuan, who has played an important part in shaping Japanese packaging and logo design over the years. He also designed the aesthetic Kikkoman naturally brewed soy sauce dispenser - one of his most famous designs - according to these principles. We’re proud of this because we cannot imagine being without the designer bottle today. After all, this traditional dispenser is today synonymous with the brand.

Functionality meets aesthetic appeal
The 150 ml bottle was developed in 1961 and its popularity remains undiminished today. Featuring a curved silhouette and unobtrusive lettering, the bottle’s simplicity, elegance and modernity make it a genuinely eye-catching object. The trendy designer bottle beautifies tables in the home and in restaurants the whole world over.
What’s more, it doesn’t just look fantastic, it’s also practical! The perfectly shaped pourer enables the precise and clean dispensing of small quantities or even single drops of soy sauce without drips. So it isn’t just the ideal cooking aid, it’s also perfect as a table-top seasoning for meals with family or friends.
Thanks to its screw-off cap and dishwasher-safe material, the designer bottle can be re-used over and over again, providing the user with enjoyment for years on end. Simply pour Kikkoman naturally brewed soy sauce out of the standard bottle’s wide opening into the dispenser for stylish seasoning at the dining table.

Small bottle. Big appeal.
The Kikkoman bottle stylishly unites function and aesthetic appeal, which is why it is appreciated by both professional chefs and amateur cooks. In 2003, Kenji Ekuan received the Lucky Strike Designer Award for his Kikkoman bottle design.
Anyone who wants to see this design classic in a different setting can visit the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen or the Museum of Modern Art in New York, where it is among the exhibits.
